DOWN IN THE QUARTER LYRICS

Lisa McDavid | Mark Paul Smith | Danny Jones

NewOrleans_.png

VERSE 1

There’s a place in the Quarter, I’m gonna take you tonight

We’re gonna get that Voodoo, and get it right

The alley cats will be there, smell the jasmine in the air

All the lights will be low, we’ll take it real slow

You’ll have the time of your life (3x)

Down in the Quarter, down in the Quarter

VERSE 2
It’s a Fae Do Do, two stepping to the Zydeco

You might be falling in love, in the Vieux Carre

We’ll be wild as Tchoupitoulas

smoking hoops and spinning hulas

Go a little bit crazy, down in the quarter

We’ll have the time of our lives (3x)

Down in the Quarter

CHORUS

I’ve been livin’ in a dream world with you
Dream world with you
Now I understand my dream world with you
Could never come true
Could never come true

VERSE 3

There’s a place in the Quarter

I’m gonna take you tonight

We’re gonna get that voodoo

we’re gonna get it right

You’ll have the time of your life (3x)

Down in the Quarter, down in the Quarter

You’ll have the time of your life (3x)

Down in the Quarter, down in the Quarter

ABOUT THE SONG

Mark Paul Smith

“Down in the Quarter” introduces a lighter, more playful energy to the album. It paints a vivid scene of romance and atmosphere, drawing inspiration from the spirit and vibrancy of New Orleans, which, ironically, is a city I’ve never had the privilege of visiting.

The song functions as an invitation, both musically and lyrically, encouraging the listener to step into a world of rhythm, connection and shared experience. Rather than focusing on emotional conflict, it celebrates movement, environment and the joy of being present in a moment that feels alive and immersive.
